Happy Data Loading with More4apps

If your organization uses Oracle’s Cloud ERP (Fusion ERP), an out-of-the-box solution from More4apps can significantly improve the data loading process.

How much does your organization value its data accuracy? Are you allowing poor quality data to enter your Oracle information systems? Poor quality data is costing organizations as much as 12.8 million dollars annually (according to research by Gartner).

If you’re using Oracle Cloud ERP, you’ll already be aware that it’s a powerful tool for running your organization. But it’s also important to be aware of its limitations. For example, the standard user interface does not cope well with mass data loads. And it can be tricky and time-consuming to import and extract information from the system.

One of the biggest issues with Oracle Cloud ERP is that it doesn’t offer fit-for-purpose data accuracy validations, meaning poor quality data can easily enter your data system. This has a knock-on effect from inaccurate reporting, leading to a negative impact on high level business decisions right through to day to day operational processes

Committing to improving data quality in your organization will ultimately improve your top and bottom-line results. There are a few different options to achieve better data quality using Oracle Cloud ERP. To find out the full pros and cons and choose the best data loading solution for your business, check out our latest whitepaper.

For a quick outline of the different data loading solutions available, read on. You’ll discover how More4apps could help your business improve the data loading process for Oracle Cloud ERP.

Free Solutions

If you’re looking for a cheap solution, there are a couple of options included with your Oracle license. These are File-Based Data Import (FBDI) and Application Development Framework Desktop Integration (ADFdi). One of the great things about these solutions is they are protected by the security features of Oracle Cloud ERP – something your IT team will appreciate. However, on the other hand, they will require regular re-testing and patching.

FBDI is best suited to migration loads with a large, static data set. It is also useful when making updates to existing data in Oracle Cloud ERP. One of the major issues with FBDI is that there are inconsistencies in functionality across the different FBDI templates. In addition, the templates are designed with technical users in mind, so End Users may find them challenging to work with. In fact, many End Users will probably find it easier to use the standard Oracle user interface to input data. Another problem is the updates rely on batch processes to run so are not realtime.

ADFdi in comparison may seem more suited to End Users, but it offers limited end-user forms and limited seeded templates from Oracle. Functionality is limited too; from stringent limits to record numbers and restrictions, to not being able to move columns around, to users only being able to show lists of values one field at a time. So while at first glance ADFdi may appear user friendly, it has a frustratingly limited scope and there are limitations when dealing with parent child hierarchies.

Oracle APEX

Apex can be used to enhance your Cloud ERP experience, however identifying a developer with the right skills and experience can be difficult. You will also have to subscribe to another Oracle service, so it isn’t free for ERP Cloud. It may be a useful way to align business processes with a data entry method rather than the standard end user forms, but it’s not really ideal for mass data entry.  It can upload .csv files and then call a webservice to load the data, but that’s not really a win over Oracle’s other offerings listed above.  Like any development effort, it requires more time, money and involves additional risk. Plus, it will need ongoing support.

Third-Party Software Solutions

More4apps can help your organization to unlock the full potential of Oracle Oracle Cloud ERP. Our solutions help make the system more accessible, allowing End Users to integrate familiar Excel spreadsheets directly with Oracle. This means they can efficiently load accurate data onto their databases, creating a robust single source of information.

Why choose More4apps? As a trusted Oracle partner, we work with 34,000 users all over the world, helping them to upload and download accurate data. We’re proud to be a market leader in Oracle spreadsheet loading tools. And we design all of our products with the End User in mind.

Worried about the cost of specialist IT programming? Don’t be. There is no need for any specialist IT programming to enable your organization to use the More4apps ERP Cloud Toolbox.

This is a collection of End User Wizards, designed to help your organization to load data into Oracle Cloud ERP. Our prebuilt loaders seamlessly integrate Excel with Oracle. The End User is responsible for the whole data loading process.

In one example, three simple purchase orders with 20 lines took 45 minutes to create using the standard Oracle forms. The same task took 45 minutes using FBDI, but only 5 minutes using the ERP Cloud Toolbox Procurement Module tools. These values do not take the error/feedback loop process or the improvement in data quality when uploading from a spreadsheet into account. Including these would show the process with ERP Cloud Toolbox to be even faster.

There is no need for your teams to be familiar with the different web services, as we carry out all of the development work behind the scenes. Most importantly, Excel is an everyday go-to spreadsheet application that can be used by anyone. That means your organization won’t need to allocate much time or investment for training, since most computer users will already be familiar with its easy to use interface.

What are the Main Benefits of Using More4Apps Solutions?

Choosing a More4apps solution will bring many benefits to key stakeholders in your business.

Senior Managers will have access to more reliable, accurate data. This can be used to help make better business decisions.

Improvements to data efficiency could reduce headcount costs and faster turnaround times for day-to-day work. Using a More4apps solution will help you to use Oracle Cloud ERP to its full potential, improving your return on investment for Oracle.

The IT Team will have more time to support technical work, instead of being focused on data entry issues. Better quality data will positively impact governance, security and compliance. Furthermore, there will be improvements to audit quality across the business.

Managers will be able to delegate higher value tasks instead of expecting teams to spend significant time on routine data tasks. This might include the analysis of data. Improvements to data quality will help managers to more easily detect and resolve errors in data. In turn, this will improve the quality of management reports.

The End User will benefit from an easier user experience, enabling them to complete data entry more quickly. More4apps solutions remove the need to work directly with Oracle web forms. End-Users will also be able to identify errors and omissions in the data more easily.

Conclusion

All organizations face increasing pressure to boost revenue and save time. As an operational area, IT is often targeted as part of cost-saving measures. Senior managers might consider moving certain tasks out of the IT department, freeing them up to provide more value to the business elsewhere or researching cheaper less people-intensive technology solutions. After all, if you are reading this far, chances are you’ve moved to Cloud to reduce the cost and risk of using internal IT resources.

Why should I choose More4apps?

Our solutions have been developed to improve the End User’s experience. We have designed them to be user-friendly and simple to use, as well as fast to implement.

Oracle End Users in your business have a clear understanding of how data is used in your organization. Empowering these people to take ownership of the data entry process is vital to ensure data quality and accuracy. Doing so means the End User deals with the entire data loading lifecycle, making better use of IT staff by releasing them to work on more technical tasks.
