Save Hundreds of Data Maintenance Hours Every Year

Save Time & Money While Efficiently Processing Data
Case Study – Not for Profit
Learn how the American Red Cross saved hundreds of hours annually on Oracle EBS data maintenance using the More4apps EBS Toolbox.
The Client
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization providing disaster relief, lifesaving blood services, international aid, training, and military family support across 187 countries as part of the world’s largest volunteer network.
The Challenge
The Red Cross had an ongoing need to integrate new lines of service into Oracle E-Business Suite, requiring constant data cleanup, conversions, and post-go-live maintenance. Years of custom customizations left end-users dependent on a stretched-thin IT team, often waiting long periods for data to be created or updated.
The scale of the challenge was significant. The organization managed nearly 2,200 price lists, over 10,800 customers with more than 11,000 sites, roughly 50,000 suppliers with 55,000 sites, and 18,000 inventory items, with thousands of monthly updates required across each. Before implementing a solution, price list maintenance alone consumed 145 hours, customer updates took 1,814 hours, and inventory changes added another 36.5 hours.
The Red Cross needed a solution that would remove customizations and return data ownership to end-users rather than relying on IT.
The Solution
After evaluating options, the Red Cross selected the More4apps EBS Toolbox, specifically the Price List, Customer, Supplier, and Item Wizards, as the only full end-user solution that met its needs, citing quick implementation, minimal IT effort, ease of use, and low cost.
Installation across each tool followed the same simple process: since every tool runs on an Excel front end connected to Oracle’s standard login, setup took a DBA only a couple of hours, with no additional software required. End users needed no technical training beyond standard Excel skills.
The Results
- Price List Wizard: Eliminated the custom price list program entirely, cutting the revenue billing division from 14 part-time employees to 2, and reducing processing time from 145 hours to 24
- Customer Wizard: Reduced customer updates from weeks to hours
- Supplier Wizard: Cut supplier data maintenance from 1,814 hours to 596 hours, saving over 1,200 hours across site deactivations, address updates, and new supplier creation
- Item Wizard: Reduced inventory update time from 36.5 hours to 4.65 hours across price updates, item assignments, and expense account changes
With reduced manual workload, the Red Cross reassigned staff to higher-value, more meaningful work, a significant win for a nonprofit operating on limited resources.
