Oracle EBS Solutions Achieve Speed & Flexibility in Business Implementation Cycles: An Experian Story

Oracle EBS Master Data Migration: Experian Case Study

Having the Right Tools in Place Maximizes Your Business Opportunities

Case Study – Finance

Without the right tools, businesses risk inefficiencies, inaccuracies, and unnecessary dependencies. See how Experian achieved a faster, more accurate Oracle EBS master data migration with More4apps.

The Client

Experian, a global information services company employing over 20,000 people across 44 countries, helping customers manage their data with confidence.

The Challenge

As Experian grew and expanded into new countries, its data challenges grew with it. Different application versions lived across multiple servers, internal processes varied by region, and master data had grown outdated. Expansion demanded mass data migration and cleansing, with the added complexity of standardizing data for central processing hubs and shared services centers, all while managing country-specific requirements like languages, character sets, number formats, and tax rules.

Creating new suppliers, for example, happened in small, time-consuming batches, since completing the right fields for each country required specific local knowledge. Errors often escalated significantly before anyone caught them. Experian’s IT team also carried a heavy burden of supplier reviews and mass updates, relying on tools like Toad for data extraction, which fell short whenever data needed to be reloaded. On top of this, broad data access raised concerns for auditors.

The Solution

Experian classified its data into two categories: master data (relatively static, needing regular cleansing and enrichment, such as items, customers, suppliers, and employees) and transactions (dynamic, needing little cleansing, such as invoices, receipts, and purchase orders). With this framework in place, Experian implemented the More4apps EBS Toolbox, including the Supplier Wizard, AR Wizard, Receipt Wizard, Customer Wizard, and HR Wizard.

Rather than cleansing and enriching data at the source, that work moved directly into the More4apps Excel spreadsheet. Since Excel was already familiar to staff, no additional training was needed, and the spreadsheet became the de facto master data source for testing and transaction activities. More4apps eliminated the need to work with Oracle’s mass-entry-unfriendly forms, giving end-users a faster, easier way to input data and catch errors themselves.

The Results

After early success, Experian rolled out more More4apps solutions from the EBS Toolbox across its global operations, achieving faster, more accurate data loading company-wide. More4apps has remained a strategic partner ever since, supporting Experian with global response times and ongoing enhancements, including additional flexfields and localization support, helping reduce costs, standardize data entry, and cut down on processing errors.
