Improving your Data Processes Saves Time & Money

Don’t Let Your Bottom Line Lose Its Luster
Case Study – Retail & Manufacturing
After implementing simple, out-of-the-box solutions from More4apps, James Avery Artisan Jewelry saved an estimated $840K annually.
The Client
A family-owned jewelry designer, manufacturer, and retailer founded in 1954 in Kerrville, Texas, now operating 50 stores and five manufacturing plants across North America with a vertically integrated business model spanning raw materials to finished products.
The Challenge
James Avery’s growing product range, over 87,000 items, 38,000 Bills of Materials (up to 8 levels), and 13,000 routings with 140+ operations, made manual data entry in Oracle E-Business Suite too slow and error-prone to sustain. Navigating multiple Oracle forms for every update was also creating bottlenecks that stalled the company’s continuous improvement program at a time when new manufacturing facilities were coming online.
The Solution
After testing and end-user approval, James Avery rolled out More4apps tools to production, replacing manual, form-by-form data entry with a streamlined process for managing Bills of Materials, routings, and inventory data.
The Results
- ~$840,000 in estimated annual savings
- Routings updated for 20,000+ finished products, saving $6,000
- 30% increase in inventory accuracy across 5,000+ sub-assemblies in 4 organizations
- Inventory categories updated for demand forecasting on 18,000 items
- Min-max planning introduced for 400 supply items
- New item introductions grew from 300 to 700+ per year
- Finished product setup time improved by 600% (down from an average of 6 hours)
“The uptake of the Wizards by my team has been amazing. They are simple to use, and we are using them on a daily basis. Issues such as updating the WIP supply type on Bill of Materials are handled in minutes rather than hours. Ultimately updating item categories is now a simple process. Data improvements are so vast; that other improvement programs, such as Cycle Counting, have been introduced to our 70 retail stores,” said Joseph Reif, Production Scheduler at James Avery Artisan Jewelry.
